In 1959, when the European migraion and thw rise of women's liberation is about to change Australia forever, schoolgirl Lisa, takes a summer job at a prestigious department store. There she meets the 'ladies in black', who will change her life forever. influenced by Madga, the manger of the high-fashion floor and her fellow sales ladies, Lisa is awakened to a world of possbilities.
